My Experience with Social Networking Class
I am a student studying graphic design in KBU International College. Recently, I had to take up a subject called 'social networking for higher education'. At first I had no idea what it was about but when I came for classes, it was not what I expected at all.
The lecturer explained to us about the many uses and advantages of social media and encouraged us to use our mobile phones in class for sharing purposes. I found it bizarre because we are usually not encouraged to constantly use our phones and spend long hours on social sites. However I found this class extremely helpful when we were introduced to Google Apps.
There are so many features on Google Apps like Google Drive; a storage for your files, Google Docs; an easily accessible app similar to Microsoft Word that you can share and edit with a group of people, Google Slides; an app for making presentation slides that anyone in the group can edit, Google Plus; a social media site to connect with your friends, Hangouts; a chatting application, Gmail; your personal email which connects all these apps and many more.
With this, I definitely think that it is so much easier now to do discussions and edit assignments together in a group. Not only it is useful for group projects but for individual assignments too. For example, one of the best features of the Google Doc and Google Slides is the Auto-Save feature which helps you save your work immediately after making changes.
Therefore, I find that this class enhanced my learning and helped me deal with my assignments in an easier and more practical way. I would recommend everyone to start using Google Apps too!
